    What do we look for in our carers?

    Care workers need to have great interpersonal skills due to the nature of the job. Care workers deal with people all day so they need to be able to handle all types of personalities with necessary skills, such as – but not limited to:

    • Excellent communication
    • Customer service
    • A caring, sensitive nature
    • Patience and being able to handle stressful situations
    • Work well under pressure
    • Great attention to detail
    • Basic understanding of computers

    What are my responsibilities
    and duties?

    Each care worker job will have different responsibilities but generally, duties include personal care, domestic support and emotional support and companionship.

    Personal care
    Personal care is one of the main responsibilities of any care worker. This includes helping someone with personal tasks like washing, getting dressed, eating and going to the toilet.

    Domestic Support
    Domestic support is also important. Care workers help out with daily tasks to ensure a clean and healthy living environment. It’s crucial as many clients may not be able to carry out these tasks alone, so your help really makes their lives easier. This includes meal preparation, cleaning, laundry and other housework.

    Emotional support and companionship
    Emotional support and companionship is a necessary part of normal life. Everyone needs someone to talk to, and this is where a care worker steps in. Having good people skills is crucial as talking makes up a big part of a care workers’ day. Offering emotional support, kindness and compassion make a massive difference to our customers’ lives.
